Pre-School Gymnastics Lesson Plan
Following a brief introduction of the theme for the week, children participate in a fun cardio and stretching warm-up to music.
After the warm-up, the instructor demonstrates the circuit and skills. Children move about the circuit receiving positive feedback and instruction.
An obstacle coarse is set up with the four disciplines gymnastics:
- Vault: Jumping onto/ off of the spring board, Squat, straddle onto foam box, jump onto landing mats…
- Bars: Swinging, toes up, chin holds, monkey hang…
- Beam: Airplane arms, v-sit, crawling, walking forward, backward…
- Floor: Forward roll, handstand, cartwheel…
- Locomotor activities are taught as well: running, galloping, jumping, skipping, etc.
In closing, a musical cool down activity is performed. We have a ton of FUN motor development activities such as the parachute, rhythmic ribbons, bean bag and ball activities that will enhance the children's eye-hand coordination. Circuits, skills and equipment change every week.
Stamps, stickers or coloring pages are given after class for doing a great job!
